Kael's Journey
Kael treks through the jungle toward Windmere Haven, carrying a collection of jungle goods to trade for the comforts and necessities of city life.
The journey is uneventful until reality itself twists.
Without warning, space and time fold inward. The world seems to collapse into a single impossible point before rebounding outward in a resonating wave of psychic force.
Agonizing pain lances through Kael's mind. He staggers beneath its weight, recognizing the sensation immediately.
Only once before has he felt such a thing—nearly a month ago, when the same inexplicable disturbance echoed across the world.
Merrin's Morning
In the city of Windmere Haven nearby, Merrin suffers the same affliction.
The shockwave strikes just as he checks out of the Crow's Feast Inn.
In the midst of profusely apologizing and insisting on paying Malon for the unfortunate sawdust disaster he left behind in his temporary room, the pain crashes into him with such force that it drives him out into the street.
The mystery of the sensation lingers, but adventuring waits for no one.
Determined to begin his first day with the Wayfinder Guild properly prepared, Merrin gathers a generous supply of rations and equipment.
As the pain gradually fades, however, something stranger takes its place.
He feels a pull beyond the city walls—a familiar presence, or perhaps two.
The sensation is impossible to describe, like gravity tugging at his soul.
Curiosity draws him forward, but so does hope.
Hope that somewhere beyond those walls lies an answer to the mysteries of this strange world in which he finds himself trapped.
The Arrival of Faerinal
The source of the disturbance is neither natural nor accidental.
Faerinal has arrived.
His violent crossing between worlds sends ripples through reality itself.
The collision of planes unleashes the psychic shockwave that Kael and Merrin experience, a consequence of his sudden arrival upon this realm.
Still disoriented, Faerinal attempts a simple act of familiarity.
He calls for his faithful owl companion, Hedwig.
Instead, reality answers with a wisecracking Dracohowl.
The peculiar creature immediately begins offering commentary, sarcasm, and unsolicited observations.
Accepting this bizarre twist of fate with admirable speed, Faerinal names his new companion Hah-ooty.
The Meeting
Before long, Faerinal encounters Kael.
The two establish friendly relations almost immediately, finding common ground despite their vastly different backgrounds.
Soon after, Merrin follows the strange pull he has been feeling and arrives in their vicinity.
As introductions unfold, a startling truth emerges.
The three share a mysterious connection.
More importantly, Faerinal and Merrin discover that they share a similar origin.
Both are strangers to this world, displaced from Toril and the continent of Faerûn, cast across the boundaries of planes and worlds into an unfamiliar land.
The Ambush
The revelation is cut short.
Predators strike from the wilderness.
Two axe beaks and two darkmantles erupt from concealment, descending upon the travelers in a vicious ambush.
The Battle
The battle that follows is brutal.
Steel, claw, beak, and magic collide in a desperate struggle for survival.
Kael and Merrin suffer grievous wounds, each pushed to the brink of death as blood stains the battlefield.
Only determination and sheer will keep them standing.
Faerinal, meanwhile, moves through the chaos with remarkable precision.
His magic and agility allow him to evade every attack, emerging from the conflict without a single scratch.
When the final creature falls and silence returns, the three survivors stand together amidst the aftermath.
The Pact
Having faced death side by side, they forge a pact.
Rather than walk separate paths, they will join the Wayfinder Guild as a united company.
Together they will climb its ranks, seeking power, knowledge, and the freedom to explore both the known world and the mysteries beyond it.
Their Goals
Faerinal: Seeks a way back to Toril.
Merrin: Seeks the same road home.
Kael: Seeks strength beyond mortal limits, hoping one day to attain such power that he may place it in service to his deity.
A Shared Future
Bound by friendship, fate, and a common purpose, the three adventurers set their sights on the future together.
Three strangers.
Two worlds.
One path united.
