The Crystal Acolyte
'He awakens a passion in me that I didn't even know existed.'
Chattenberg, 1790: Glandera has chosen Archmage Ferron as her Master and lives as an acolyte at the Mage Academy. There she studies her gemstone powers and trains to control Earth Magic. Her growing interest in men distracts her from her lessons. She longs for the secret of her origins to be uncovered so that she may finally be with the love of her life.
The centuries-old prophecy is fulfilled. But can everything handed down in the history books be believed without question? And why are still no Earth Mages being born?
The Mage Academy has its own norms, and Ferron explains them to her frankly: “You must understand that we mages, with the right balance of energy, are almost immortal. That is why different social norms have taken hold in our culture. One loves whom one wishes, whether woman or man. Sexual fidelity within a partnership is the exception among us. What matters is that everyone is open and honest with one another.”
Furio, the passionate Fire Mage, tempts her with his magical heat. Ferron, loyal and grounded, keeps her at a distance, even though the air crackles between them. Two men, two elements, two entirely different kinds of closeness. Will Glandera come to terms with the unfamiliar openness at the academy?
